Hello! So it is officially 1 week until the big day when I officially leave for my 10.5 months in the Czech Republic. So far it’s pretty surreal that this is actually happening. When I left the Czech Republic on May 17, 2012 after an amazing semester abroad in Prague I knew I wanted to get back to such beautiful and historically rich country as soon as possible. Yet with a summer-long internship and senior year at William and Mary ahead of me I had no idea when that might actually happen. I had loved living abroad, exploring new places, meeting new people, and learning new things everyday. I chose to apply for a Fulbright grant to teach English in the Czech Republic based on my personal interest in education and desire to immerse myself in Czech culture through interacting with people. After starting my application in June 2012, submitting it in October 2012, and then finding out my acceptance in March 2013, it seems crazy that over a year since this entire process started I will finally be back!
This summer has definitely been a roller coaster of emotions with regards to leaving: excited, antsy, shocked, nervous, full on freaking out, confident, content, and again excited. I think at this point it has boiled down to being anxious. The last month was full of traveling and saying goodbyes to friends and family. Overall, extremely bittersweet. Now I look forward to a week of last minute packing before finally boarding my plane to Prague!
I am so excited to virtually accompany you on your adventure through your blog! I hope you’ll take lots of pictures and share lots of stories!
